Green pigeons

We are very fortunate to have green pigeons in the reserve. The parrot like pigeons have green and grey plumage that is unique among local pigeons. Their bills are whitish with red cere; their legs are red while the thighs are yellow. Green pigeons are often seen in small groups clambering around canopy of fruiting trees.

A number of these pigeons have either been treated at SanWild after being injured or have been hand-reared.
